Eastern Oregon Ride 2011

We had an amazing ride with a few of our friends leaving home going through Madras, Shaniko, Antelope, Fossil ending in Spray, Oregon where we spent our first night in a little motel called River Bend. It thundered and lightning as soon as we started unloading our bikes so they let us park our bikes up on the covered board walk in front of our rooms . I think that was my favorite little town we went to. The next day we headed to Heppner, Ukiah and ending the day in Long Creek. When we turned on Willow Creek road just outside of Heppner headed for Ukiah, we were met with a fairly fresh chip oiled road so it was a slow go for about 25 miles! After arriving in Long Creek and taking time to unload our bikes and getting a bite to eat, we took a little ride to Monument. The third day, we went through John Day, Prairie City, the ghost town of Whitney, on to Sumpter ending in Baker City. We had planned to continue on around Anthony Lake, but that road was still closed due to snow. A after unloading our bikes, we took a run out to Richland and back. When we got back into Baker City we had a great dinner at Barley Browns Pub. Day four, we went over Dooley Mountain (188 corners) to Unity back through Prairie City. When we got to John Day we went south down to 63 which took us through Paulina and Post ending in Prineville. Luckily we got a place to stay thanks to Ruth getting on her phone after getting the news in Post that Prineville had their Rodeo, Carnival and one other thing going so all the motels were full. The rooms weren't the best, but we were all so tired and thankful to have a place to sleep when we got there that it didn't matter too much. Got up the next morning and headed home! Great ride guys, can't wait for the next trip. If you haven't explored Eastern Oregon I would highly recommend it.
